Lesson Two: Daily Routine


 

In this lesson you will learn some common vocabulary for daily routines. We will follow Kristian through a typical day. You will also learn noun forms, modal verbs, some expressions of time, and the numbers from 1-12.. You will also learn forms for several more common verbs which deal with daily routine. You will continue to practice pronunciation as you practice the vowels and learn the new vocabulary for this lesson.

Kristian sover.
Kristian våkner.
Han står opp.
Han dusjer.
Kristian kler på seg.*
Han leser avisen.
Kristian drikker kaffe.
Han spiser frokost
Kristian pugger og
gjør lekser.
Kristian spiser lunsj.
Han spiser et smørbrød.
Kristian spiser middag.
Han ser på tv.

Kristian kler av seg.*
Han legger seg.*

 

*These are reflexive verbs.
Kristian sover om natten. Kristian sleeps at night (during the night).
Kristian våkner om morgenen. Kristian wakes up in the morning.
Kristian står opp klokka halv seks. Kristian gets up at 5:30.
Kristian spiser frokost og leser avisen om
morgenen.
Kristian eats breakfast and reads the paper in the
morning. (during the mornings).
Kristian gjør lekser om ettermiddagen. Kristian does lessons in the afternoon. (during the afternoons).
Kristian ser på tv om kvelden. Kristian watches tv in the evening. (during the evenings)
Kristian pleier å legge seg kl. 10. Kristian usually goes to bed at 10:00.

Notice that we use the preposition "om" to indicate that activities are done during a time frame, like morning, afternoon or evening. Quite often this usage indicates repetitive activities. Kristian studies every afternoon, for example. Notice also that no preposition is used with hours of the clock.
